A crew once accidentally entered an alien cave during a manhunt along the border, releasing the extraordinary energy of the shooter Shen La. A white-haired guy by the name of Wu Rendi saved them during that time, escorting Shen La and Sun Desheng to the Bureau of Paranormal Investigation and Research, a mystery agency. They joined the Bureau's First Section there. The two of them passed the internal transfer test and successfully rescued an archaeological team in the desert. Shen La's unusual energy, however, sparked spirited discussion at the Bureau and exacerbated divisions within the organization.

Yang Liao, a second white-haired guy who started working in Section 6 under Wu Rendi, was restrained by the Bureau while they dealt with the widespread paranormal comas that affected residents of Kylin City. Shen La was in risk of being engulfed by Xiao Sanda's aberrant energy and made to awaken while engaged in combat for the Chart of Heavenly Principles, a hidden artifact. Wu Rendi inserted a "seed" from the white-haired man into Shen La's body during a life-or-death fight. After going through a metamorphosis, Shen La is about to start a new chapter in his life.
