KOGs are events where one tournament is usually hosted per start of season (1 or 2 months) to determine the KOG of that season. The winner of that tournament becomes the KOG, and they will have to face challengers to not only retain their title as KOG for the next season, but also to obtain vouchers depending on their number of wins. Challengers can also receive rewards based on their own number of wins against the KOG in a season.

An entry fee of Rs 25 must be paid for each duel a challenger wants to do with the KOG. At the end of the season, the KOG and the challengers who have enough wins for a reward(s) must collect their prizes, but not before paying the full amount of entry fees they must pay.

Event Highlights:

For this MD KOG Season Eliminatory Tournament, we had 1 Cyber Dragon Player, 1 Tearlament player, 1 PUNK Player, and 1 Dinomorphia player

Organiser’s quote:

“It was great to see Cyber Dragon again in a tournament, but sadly Tearlaments powercrept the deck to oblivion. PUNK and Dinomorphia however performed exceptionally well, and Dinomorphia was the one to win the tournament yet again”

Memorable moments:

A memorable moment would be a Cyber Dragon player surviving a Battle Phase, and activating a set Evenly Matched that could have very well been destroyed before the Battle Phase. As a result, the Cyber Dragon player cleared a lot of cards from the Dinomorphia player’s board with just 1 card.

And another memorable moment was when the PUNK player using one of the new HERO cards that can also be used in non-HERO decks, but barely saw any play. Instant Contact was used to summon Elemental HERO Flare Neos to then continue with Synchro Summons such as Baronne de Fleur, with the greatest of ease.

Personal anecdotes:

It was fun to see Greg and Dylan playing the event and winning at least 1 game. Being new to the competitive scene of Adilsons, they performed well, and hopefully they do join in again for the future tournaments.

Community and Sportsmanship:

All fair play and respectful attitudes towards each other among all the duelists. 

Rewards:

No rewards for this specific tournament. The winner becomes the new KOG, who will then duel their challengers to receive rewards based on their win ratio. The challengers also receive rewards based on their own win ratio.

MDYAL Week 7

Introduction:

MDYAL is a series of tournaments, where duelists can play in either a team of 2 players total, or individually.

Duelists participate in each tournament to accumulate points for themselves, and their teams, if any. Once the league ends, the points are tallied, and rewards are given where appropriate. The best individual duelist and the best team are rewarded.

Event Highlights:

Only the top 4 of the best duelists participated in the last stand of MDYAL, with 2 duelists bringing Tearlaments, 1 bringing HERO, and 1 bringing Dinomorphia

Organiser’s quote:

“The last day, the last tournament, of the MDYAL Season 2 started, and all 4 of us were bringing our very best arsenal at our disposal. Ready to counter the meta decks, or ready to counter the counters of the meta decks, we dueled to our very best, despite having some bad luck in the day’s games”

Final day of the season, winner wins a lot, winning team wins some decent rewards

Memorable moments:

The most memorable moment was the very last game of the day’s tournament. It was Shaukat VS Aman, with their decsk, Dinomorphia VS Tearlaments respectively. Aman could not do much against Shaukat’s Dinomorphia Rexterm, which he had 2 copies of on the field, to make things more difficult for Aman. So, Aman used the hand and graveyard effects of his monsters to keep blocking chunks of damage until he finally drew the 1 card that saved him: Tearlaments Sulliek, which is a monster negate, therefore negating the effects of Dinomorphia Rexterm, one by one. Aman then set us his board, and won the game.

Aman was the winner of the entire season, and the team Dyna Tag won the season. The team Baby Poppers went extremely far with recognised and appreciated efforts, and were outstanding during the entirety of the season. 

Personal anecdotes:

Shaukat and Haresh were still fine that their friends won the tournament, and had a lot of fun playing throughout most of the entire season. Only time will tell if they will make an appearance together again in the next season, or if they will be in different teams.

Community and Sportsmanship:

All fair play and respectful attitudes towards each other among all the duelists.

The Lost Art Promotion is a promotion in the TCG in which the Asian artworks of cards are distributed. Exclusive at OTS Stores only, LARTs are given as rewards for participation in certain events.

EX-ZERO Festival May

The EX-ZERO Festival is about only using the Main Deck, and the Extra Deck is completely unallowed, so no Fusions, no Synchros, no XYZs, and no Links.

The Additional Forbidden & Limited List has been given down below (check title to see if banned, limited or semi-limited). This banlist is merged with the current Standard Forbidden & Limited List we have in Master Duel, meaning you also must consider the cards in the Standard Forbidden & Limited List.

Event Highlights:

4 participants, with 1 bringing HERO, 1 bringing Crystal Beast Kaiju, 1 bringing Kaiju good stuffs, and 1 bringing True Draco

Organiser’s quote:

“We took the same banlist as the official Konami EX-ZERO banlist to see how degenerate some of the other new cards are in this format. We were expecting decks like Floowandereeze and Monarch to appear very commonly, but I was surprised to see other decks that still performed decently well. Maybe there are some cards that we need to ban for the next EX-ZERO tournament, but the data we currently have is insufficient to make them banworthy.”

Memorable moments:

 

The main memorable moment would be when there was some sort of mirror match between 2 duelists who played Kaijus with the card Kyoutou Waterfront. Kaijus are often used to get rid of the opponent’s monsters, but they each have some nice effects when played with Kyoutou Waterfront. As such, a lot of thought was put before summoning Kaijus, as one’s own Kaiju can backfire in a crazy way. Or the opponent simply draws Raigeki and wins the game by battling with their opponent’s own Kaiju.

True Draco was of course extremely powerful in this format, albeit having banned and limited the unfair cards of the deck. However, HERO was just very powerful under the right cards; Destiny HERO – Plasma, paired up with at least 1 copy of D – Force, makes the board almost unbeatable except by using Kaijus or other non-targeting and non-destroying mechanics. As for Crystal Beast and Kaijus, they were nice, but still lacked some power cards/draw cards to be even stronger like True Draco.

Personal anecdotes:

Everyone had fun dueling. They all joined in on the livestream and were just chill.

Community and Sportsmanship:

All the participants are friends with each other. There were no highly degenerate decks, thus everyone was happy to duel with each other regardless of the results.

Conclusion and Looking Ahead:

Overall, everyone enjoyed dueling in the tournaments and watching the streams. Each duelist showed their skills in deckbuilding and dueling, and everyone was respectful towards each other, playing fairly.
