MDYAL Week 6 - A Fantastic Master Duel Tournament Experience Online

MDYAL is a series of tournaments, where duelists can play in either a team of 2 players total, or individually.

Duelists participate in each tournament to accumulate points for themselves, and their teams, if any. Once the league ends, the points are tallied, and rewards are given where appropriate. The best individual duelist and the best team are rewarded.

An entry fee of Rs 75 is required per participation for duelists who join in late for a YAL MD.

Some highlights of the event:

Participants have been at 6 people on that day, for some fierce competition among the new best decks of the Master Duel format including: Tearlaments, Runick Spright, and Floowandereeze.

Organiser’s quote:

“It was expected that with the introduction of the new deck called Tearlaments, people would be ready to play strategies and decks that counter this deck. Despite that, Tearlaments still remain the most terrifying deck in this format. Just one card is enough to put up a board full of Fusion Monsters and more”

Atmosphere: Competitive, intense

Unique features:  No additional Forbidden & Limited List, just a regular competitive tournament

Memorable moments: An interesting interaction with Topologic Zeroboros, as seen in the image below glowing, indicating that its effect is being activated, had occurred. Its effect is that it banishes every single card on the field activated. It returned to the field with over 10 000 ATK, easily winning the game. A very bold and risky move that could spell the end of the game for Antinomy, the player who used Zeroboros, but luckily Antinomy survived thanks to his other cards in his Graveyard, and Zeroboros won him the game.

A fun tech that NDRW used in Floowandereeze was Harpie Harpist, as seen in Defense Position being attacked below, which deals with certain problematic cards that his deck can face when going against powerful decks. Sadly, he did not draw well in that game, and lost to Masked HERO Dark Law, the Fusion Monster seen below.

Antinomy and Shadow 3112 sharing 1st place, with their decks being Tearlaments and Runick Spright respectively. They both showed battle prowess in all their games. Both congratulated each other for performing so well on that day

Shadow 3112 was super ready to face the Tearlaments deck, and his strategies proved fruitful. Hisoka and NDRW were both on the Floowandereeze deck, which almost inherently counters Tearlaments. All of them were personally ready to face the best decks.

Meanwhile SHAU04X and Shaflinkuei were merely playing their favourite decks, being Dinomorphia and HERO respectively, as seen from previous livestreams from the Adilsons Twitch Channel.

The spectators were watching the Twitch Livestream and seeing how the streamer would perform against the powerful decks. Shafeeq, being the Twitch streamer for Master Duel at Adilsons, almost all the time plays HERO, including that event. Unfortunately, he did not perform that well on that day, but the spectators were voicing out ideas to help his HERO deck to face the powerful decks, while also giving suggestions on what to play for the Fusion Festival, as seen below.

All the participants are friends with each other, and despite many bringing some degenerate and powerful decks, everyone was happy to duel with each other regardless of the results.

Rewards:

No rewards just yet, but the more points acquired, the more guaranteed the duelists will receive rewards at the end of the league, which should be in May 2023

To note that this event alone does not give rewards. It is only at the end of the league that the rewards are given

Temporary invite to Grand Champ:

Grand Championship is a TCG tournament exclusively for the best of the best duelists at Adilsons. It is a yearly tournament to determine who is declared the most skillful and powerful duelist for a year, rewarded with Yu-Gi-Oh! Products, such as mini-boxes of cards.

Detail on LART:

The Lost Art Promotion is a promotion in the TCG in which the Asian artworks of cards are distributed. Exclusive at OTS Stores only, LARTs are given as rewards for participation in certain events.

Overall, everyone enjoyed dueling and watching the stream, with satisfactory results for most of the participants. They are not giving up that easily, and will do their best for the final week of the league, which will be on the 13th of May 2023
