Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel is a fast-paced version of the popular Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game that's designed to be quicker and easier to play. Speed Duels use a smaller deck size of 20 to 30 cards, a smaller playing field, and simplified rules to create a streamlined and exciting gameplay experience. 

Speed Dueling brings together the best of both worlds—combining the beloved characters, iconic cards, and rich lore of the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe with a gameplay style that prioritizes rapid decision-making and quick exchanges. It captures the essence of dueling in its purest form, allowing duelists to showcase their skills and immerse themselves in intense battles.

No entry free needed to paid to participate for this event; entrance fee of Rs 50 was applicable at the event location Quatres Bornes.

Event Highlights:

On July 16th, 2023, Adilsons held a Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel tournament with 9 participants. The tournament had a variety of decks being used, including 1 level 4 Beatdown deck, 1 Hero decks, 2 Destiny Hero,  1 dino deck, 1 Ancient Gear deck, 1 Evil Hero and 2 Ojama deck. Here are the highlights from the event:

The tournament started with round 1; Ancient Gear player[Tommy] won by BYE, Hero[Joshua] vs 1st Ojama[Steven], Dino[Nanda] vs 1st Destiny Hero[Ramassamy], level 4 Beatdown[Yakshesh] vs Evil Hero[Stuart] and 2nd Ojama[Rohan] vs 2nd Destiny hero[Joel]. Joel, Steven,Yakshesh,Tommy and Nanda end up winning round 1.

Both Nanda and Tommy won their round 2 and 3 respectively, and proceeded in the finals[round 4]. Finally in round 4, the Dino player was able to beat the Ancient Gear player, despite the cyber dragon player asserting dominance in most of the duels, securing the monthly Adilsons Speed Duel championship title.

Overall, the tournament was a great success and showcased the diversity of deck choices available in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel format.

Atmosphere:

The participants were focused and determined to do their best in each match, while also enjoying the camaraderie and sportsmanship that comes with competitive play.

Unique features:

We dueled at Quatre Bornes this event, and it was success as we got a lot of newcomers, who tried our loaner decks. New loaner deck were provided and the loanees liked a lot testing them out in the tournament.

Memorable moments:

The best-of-3 duels between the Destiny Hero player and the Ancient Gear player, were so intense and memorable, showcasing the diverse strategies and playstyles that are possible in Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel. Even though the level 4 beatdown player participated in our Adilsons Speed Duel Tournament for a 2nd time, he emerged our Adilsons Speed Duel monthly competition’s 2nd runner-up.

Winner: Nanda Dulal

Congratulations to Nanda Dulal, also known as the dino player, for winning Adilson's Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel tournament on July 16th, 2023! The dino deck is a powerful and versatile deck, and Nanda's mastery of its strengths and weaknesses played a big role in his success.

Runner-up: Tommy Payet

Congratulations to Tommy Payet , also known as the Ancient Gear player, for being the 1st runner-up of our 1st QB Adilson's Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel tournament. demonstrated remarkable skill and strategic thinking throughout the tournament, leading him to the finals. Being the runner-up of a tournament like this requires not only a deep understanding of the game and its mechanics, but also the ability to adapt and make smart decisions on the fly. 

Runner-up: Yakshesh Bissessur

Congratulations to Yakshesh Bissessur, also known as the level 4 Beatdown player on his outstanding achievement as the runner-up in the Adilsons Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel July Tournament! Securing such a remarkable position in a competitive event like this is a testament to his exceptional skills, strategic prowess, and dedication to the game. 

It's evident that Yakshesh has demonstrated incredible talent and determination throughout the tournament, and his success is well-deserved. Personal anecdotes:

Tommy v/s Ramassamy ended up in a long, intense match that went back and forth several times, but Tommy emerged victorious. It was very cool to see new duelists, at our 1st QB tournament, and they really liked playing with the loaner decks that were given to them. Finally, the duelists bonded over their shared love of the game and exchanged tips and strategies with each other between matches.

Community and Sportsmanship:

The duelists present on that day, sharing tips and strategies with each other after matches, even if they were competing against each other. This kind of collaboration is common in the Yu-Gi-Oh! community and is a sign of good sportsmanship.

Overall, the community and sportsmanship at Adilson's Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel tournament was positive and supportive. While there may have been some competitive tension between players, it's clear that they were passionate about the game and respectful of each other's abilities.

The Lost Art Promotion is a promotion in the TCG in which the Asian artworks of cards are distributed. Exclusive at OTS Stores only, LARTs are given as rewards for participation in certain events.

Field Center Cards are special non-Deck cards that can be placed in the middle of the field to serve as reference points for the two Extra Monster Zones during a Duel in which the players lack the use of playmats.
