Dead Mount Play Is Getting A TV Anime
An picture and the first trailer for the anime version of Ryogo Narita's Dead Mount Death Play have been released. Also announced are the cast members. It will debut in April 2023 and is being animated by Studio GEEKTOYS.
Manabu Ono, who also oversaw the series composition for Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, is in charge of directing the anime adaptation. Character designer for Kingdom Seasons 3 and 4 Hisashi Abe is in charge of character design, and the narrative is written by Yoriko Tomita, Manabu Ono, and Yukie Sugawara (who also wrote the series composition for My Dress-Up Darling and Overlord).
Polka Shinoyama is voiced by Yuki Sakakihara, who previously played Nanaki Ralei in The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt. Misaki Sasamiya is played by Inori Minase, who is most known for playing Rem in Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World. Takumi Kuruya is portrayed by Yuma Uchida, who also provided the voice of Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Ryogo Narita, known for Durarara, is writing the Dead Mount Death Play manga with art by Shinta Fujimoto in Square Enix’s bimonthly magazine Young Gangan since October 2017. The series released the first compiled volume in April 2018 and the latest, tenth volume on November 25, 2022.
Yen Press licensed the manga for English releases and published the eight volume in September 2022. The official website describes the plot of the first volume as:
It’s a showdown for the ages as the legendary hero takes on the corpse god necromancer, but when the dust settles, something isn’t quite right… In the final moments of their epic confrontation, the corpse god’s final gambit shot was wholly unexpected — reincarnation magic!
