Petition Started To Remake Chainsaw Man Anime With A New Director
Next week marks the final installment of the Katana Man arc for the eagerly awaited anime series Chainsaw Man. Despite extensive publicity and high expectations, the anime eventually disappointed in terms of ratings and sales. As a result, a passionate anime fan from Japan has filed a petition on Change.org, a well-known website for online petitions, requesting that the anime be redone under the direction of a new director.
In a 700-word explanation of the petition, the petition, titled "Please remake the anime "Chainsaw Man" with a new director," lists the major problems with the existing adaptation. A devoted follower of the original manga, the petition's author expresses unhappiness with the anime adaptation and laments the loss of the "momentum" that made the original work so endearing.
The petition's principal concerns include the filmmaker Ryuu Nakayama's interpretation of his original work. According to the petition, many fans believe that Nakayama's interpretation of the anime and the original manga differ significantly from one another.
The overall caliber of the animation is another significant criticism brought up in the petition. While the animation itself has received praise for its high quality, the show's direction and storyboarding have come under fire. Some feel that the reliance on realism and the excessive use of drawing strokes has diminished the impact of the battle scenes and jokes. On the other hand, there are SNS thoughts that the Chainsaw Man animation should have gone in the direction of the Mappa studio's "Dorohedoro," the animation production business TRIGGER.
The anime's music and sound design have also drawn criticism in the petition, with many viewers believing that the background music is forgettable and that the sound effects, in especially the sound of the chainsaw, are weak.
