This rich yet matte-finish balm cream is engineered to restore and fortify a compromised skin barrier. Formulated with a potent blend of ceramides and medical-grade Centella Asiatica, it provides deep comfort to skin stressed by environmental factors like sun, air-conditioning, and humidity in Mauritius, without leaving a greasy feel.
At-a-Glance (30s) (who it's for, what to expect)
Dealing with skin that feels tight, irritated, or reactive is a common challenge. This cream is designed to provide immediate comfort and long-term resilience.
- Best For: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Sensitive skin types.
- What it does: Deeply moisturises, soothes redness, repairs the skin's protective barrier, and calms irritation from actives like retinoids or acids.
- Texture: A unique matte balm-cream that feels substantial upon application but absorbs to a soft, non-greasy finish.
- Key Ingredients: Ceramide NP, Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Panthenol, Sunflower Seed Oil.
- Good to Know: Formulated without artificial fragrance, parabens, sulfates, or essential oils.
Quick Start (60-second routine) (essentials for beginners)
- Cleanse: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser.
- Treat (Optional): Apply any lightweight hydrating or treatment serums.
- Moisturise [THIS PRODUCT]: Apply a pea-sized amount of the Ceramide Cream to your face and neck to lock in moisture and protect your skin barrier.
- Protect (AM): Follow with a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+).
Note: Already own a moisturiser? Finish that first to avoid waste (substitute, donโt stack).
AM Routine Guide (morning order) (how to use in the morning)
Minimalist Routine (3-4 Steps):
- Cleanser: Start with a gentle face wash.
- Hydrating Toner/Essence (Optional): Apply a hydrating layer if your skin feels tight.
- Moisturise [THIS PRODUCT]: Use a pea-sized amount to hydrate and create a protective base.
- Sunscreen: Finish with a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher. This is the most important step to protect your skin barrier.
Wait Times: Allow 30-60 seconds between watery layers and 1-2 minutes after this cream before applying sunscreen to prevent pilling.
PM Routine Guide (evening order) (recommended for starting)
Minimalist Routine (3 Steps):
- Double Cleanse: Start with an oil cleanser to remove sunscreen/makeup, followed by a water-based cleanser.
- Treatment Serum (Optional): Apply any targeted serums (e.g., for hydration or anti-aging). If using strong actives like retinol or exfoliating acids, you can apply this cream before or after to buffer potential irritation.
- Moisturise [THIS PRODUCT]: Apply a slightly more generous amount than in the AM to deeply nourish and repair your skin barrier overnight.
Texture Rule: Always apply products from the thinnest consistency to the thickest.
How to Use (Beginner-friendly) (amount, frequency, and tips)
Daily Use โ AM/PM:
- Amount: A pea-sized amount for the face. Add a little more for the neck.
- Apply to: Clean face and neck. Avoid the immediate eye area.
- Method: Warm the cream between your fingertips for a moment, then gently press and pat it into the skin until absorbed. This method is better for sensitive skin than rubbing.
- Frequency: Use morning and night. Can be used more frequently on particularly dry or irritated patches.
If-This / Then-That:
- Very dry or using retinoids? Apply a hydrating toner or essence first, then this cream. You can also "sandwich" your retinoid: apply a thin layer of cream, wait, apply the retinoid, then apply another layer of cream.
- Combination or oily-leaning skin? Use a smaller amount and focus on areas that feel tight or dry. In Mauritius' humid summer, you may prefer to use this only at night.
- Under makeup? Allow the cream to fully absorb for 1-2 minutes before applying sunscreen and primer. This helps prevent pilling and creates a smooth base.
Watchouts: Pilling usually means too much product was applied or there wasn't enough wait time before the next step. If it feels too heavy, you are likely using too muchโa little goes a long way.
Safety: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Discontinue use if a rash or irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children.
Weekly Planner (Example & Alternating Actives) (how to schedule use)
This cream is a daily moisturiser, designed to be used every morning and evening to consistently support your skin barrier.
If you use strong actives (like exfoliants or retinoids), this cream is an excellent buffer and recovery product.
Example Week (PM Focus):
- Mon: Retinoid Night (Use this cream to sandwich your retinoid)
- Tue: Recovery Night (Use only gentle, hydrating products + this cream)
- Wed: Exfoliant Night (e.g., AHA/BHA toner, followed by this cream)
- Thu: Recovery Night
- Fri: Retinoid Night
- Sat: Recovery Night
- Sun: Recovery Night
Rule: This cream can be used every night. On nights you use strong actives, it helps soothe and moisturise. On "recovery" nights, it is the primary product for rebuilding the skin barrier.
What to Expect (Results Timeline) (immediate โ 8+ weeks)
- Immediately: Skin feels soothed, comfortable, and deeply moisturised. Tightness and stinging sensations are reduced. The finish is soft and matte, not greasy.
- Within 2-4 weeks: The skin barrier begins to strengthen. You may notice less redness and reactivity to external triggers. Dry patches become smoother, and the skin retains moisture for longer throughout the day.
- After 4-8+ weeks: With a consistently repaired barrier, overall skin health improves. Skin appears more balanced, resilient, and calm. The improvements from other active ingredients in your routine may become more noticeable as the skin is in a healthier state to receive them.
Individual results may vary. Consistent use, especially alongside daily sun protection, is key.
Myth Replacement (Why this, not that) (safer, effective alternatives)
Myth: "If my skin is irritated or breaking out, I should stop using moisturiser to 'dry it out'."
Fact (Why this, not that): Irritation and breakouts are often signs of a damaged skin barrier. Depriving your skin of moisture will only weaken it further, leading to more inflammation, prolonged healing, and potentially more oil production as the skin tries to compensate. Instead of skipping moisturiser, use a barrier-repairing one like the COSRX Ceramide Cream. It delivers the essential lipids (ceramides) and soothing compounds (Centella) your skin needs to heal, calm inflammation, and regain balance, which helps resolve breakouts and sensitivity faster and more effectively.
Compatibility Guide (layering) (what to pair it with)
-
Works Well With: This cream is designed to be compatible with almost all skincare ingredients. It is especially beneficial when used alongside potentially irritating actives.
- Retinoids (Retinol, Tretinoin): Excellent for buffering irritation. Apply before or after your retinoid to reduce dryness and peeling.
- Exfoliating Acids (AHA, BHA): Helps to soothe and moisturise the skin after exfoliation, preventing over-stripping.
- Vitamin C: Can be applied in the AM after your Vitamin C serum has fully absorbed to lock in hydration.
- Hydrators (Hyaluronic Acid, Snail Mucin): Layer this cream on top of hydrating serums to seal in moisture effectively.
- Use Carefully With: No major conflicts. The primary consideration is texture. If layering under very silicone-heavy primers or sunscreens, ensure the cream has fully absorbed to prevent pilling.
- Avoid On: Do not apply to open wounds or infected skin without consulting a doctor.
Skin Type Compatibility (best fits and cautions)
- Dry Skin: Excellent. Provides deep, lasting moisture and repairs the lipid barrier that is often deficient in dry skin types.
- Sensitive Skin: Excellent. Specifically formulated with soothing ingredients like Centella and Panthenol to calm irritation and reduce redness. Free of common irritants.
- Normal Skin: Very good. A reliable daily moisturiser to maintain a healthy skin barrier, especially during drier seasons or in air-conditioned environments.
- Combination Skin: Good. Best used as a night cream or applied selectively to drier areas (like cheeks). May feel slightly heavy on the T-zone during humid weather.
- Oily Skin: Use with caution. While its matte finish is appealing, the rich texture might be too occlusive for very oily skin types, especially in the Mauritian summer. Best reserved for nighttime use or for when the skin barrier is compromised (e.g., from acne treatments).
Targeted Concerns (what it helps to solve)
- Compromised Skin Barrier: Directly replenishes the skin with Ceramide NP to rebuild and strengthen its protective layer.
- Dryness & Dehydration: Provides both emollient (lipids) and occlusive (barrier) benefits to lock in moisture and prevent water loss.
- Sensitivity & Redness: Contains a high concentration of Centella Asiatica Leaf Water and Panthenol to actively soothe inflammation and calm irritated skin.
- Irritation from Actives: An ideal buffer cream to use with retinoids, chemical exfoliants, or other strong treatments to minimize side effects like peeling and stinging.

Complete Ingredient Transparency (key actives + full INCI)
Key Actives Explained:
- Ceramide NP (10,000 ppm): A skin-identical lipid that makes up over 50% of the skin's barrier. This ingredient works like mortar between skin cell "bricks," helping to seal in moisture, prevent water loss (TEWL), and protect the skin from external irritants.
- Centella Asiatica Leaf Water (50%): Also known as "Cica" or "Tiger Grass." This extract is rich in active compounds like Madecassoside that have powerful anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties. It helps to calm redness, soothe irritation, and support skin repair.
- Panthenol (Vitamin B5): A humectant that draws moisture into the skin and holds it there. It also has excellent soothing properties and supports the skin barrier's natural repair processes.
- Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil: A non-fragrant plant oil rich in linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that helps strengthen and maintain the skin's barrier. It's an excellent emollient for dry or compromised skin.
Full INCI List:
Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Alcohol, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Ceramide NP, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sucrose Distearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Dipropylene Glycol, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Kernel Oil, Beeswax, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Panthenol, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Xanthan Gum, Asiaticoside, Asiatic acid, Madecassic acid, Cassia Obtusifolia Seed Extract, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil.
Formulated Without: Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates, Artificial Fragrance.
Allergens & Fragrance Disclosure (scent profile and potential irritants)
- Fragrance: This product is formulated without artificial fragrances. It has a very mild, neutral scent from its raw ingredients. Intensity: 0/5.
- Essential Oils: Contains a very small amount of Bergamot Fruit Oil at the end of the ingredient list, likely for its natural antibacterial properties rather than scent. While generally well-tolerated, those with specific citrus sensitivities should patch test.
- EU Allergens: The Bergamot Oil contains naturally occurring Limonene and Linalool, which are declarable EU allergens.
Full Safety & Patch Test Protocol (important precautions)
Who should use it: Anyone with normal to dry, sensitive, or compromised skin looking for a robust barrier-repair moisturiser.
Who should use with caution: Those with very oily or acne-prone skin might find this too rich for daytime use, especially in a humid climate. While this product is hypoallergenic, those with a known allergy to any of the ingredients, particularly Bergamot oil, should avoid it.
Fungal Acne (Malassezia Folliculitis) Advisory: This product is not considered "FA-safe" as it contains Sunflower Seed Oil and Beeswax, which may be triggers for some individuals prone to fungal acne. Individual responses vary, so patch testing is recommended.
Patch Test Protocol:
- Apply a pea-sized amount to a clean, small area of skin, such as behind the ear or on the inner jawline.
- Wait 24 hours to observe for any signs of redness, itching, or irritation.
- If no reaction occurs, repeat the test for a second day to ensure no delayed sensitivity.
- If your skin remains calm, the product is likely safe for you to use on your face. Discontinue use immediately if irritation occurs.
Sensory & Chemical Profile (texture, feel, and formulation)
- Texture: A soft, buttery balm-cream that is dense in the tube but spreads smoothly on the skin.
- Finish: Absorbs to a comfortable, velvety matte finish. It does not feel greasy or look shiny.
- Scent: Essentially fragrance-free, with a faint, clean scent from the base ingredients.
- pH: Approximately 6.0 - 7.0, which is slightly acidic and friendly to the skin's natural pH mantle.
Troubleshooting Guide (fix common issues) (quick solutions)
-
Issue: The cream is pilling or rolling into little balls.
Solution: You are likely using too much product or not allowing sufficient time for it to absorb before applying the next layer (like sunscreen). Try using a smaller amount and wait 1-2 minutes before your next step.
-
Issue: The cream feels too heavy or greasy on my skin.
Solution: This formula is rich. Try using it only at night. For daytime, use a smaller-than-pea-sized amount and focus only on the driest parts of your face. In Mauritius' summer, you might switch to a lighter gel-cream for AM use and reserve this for PM.
-
Issue: My skin feels a bit warm or tingly after application.
Solution: A slight, temporary warmth can occur if your skin barrier is very damaged, as the active ingredients start to work on repair. However, if this is accompanied by redness or itching that persists, discontinue use and perform a patch test to rule out sensitivity.
Climate Fit for Mauritius (local usage advice)
- Humid Summer (December - April): For those with combination to oily skin, this cream may feel too occlusive for daytime wear. It is best suited as a night cream to repair any sun or environmental damage from the day. Dry skin types can likely use it day and night.
- Drier Winter (May - November): This cream is an excellent choice for all skin types during the cooler, drier months to combat environmental dryness and wind.
- Air-Conditioned Environments: If you spend most of your day in an office or home with air-conditioning, this cream is perfect for preventing the dehydration and tightness that AC can cause.

Ceramide NP is a well-documented, crucial component of the skin's lipid barrier, and topical application is proven to help reduce water loss and repair barrier function. Frequently Asked Questions (your questions, answered)
1. Can I use this cream if I have acne?
Yes, it can be very beneficial, especially if your acne treatments are drying or irritating your skin. By strengthening your skin barrier, this cream can help your skin heal faster and become less inflamed. However, if your skin is very oily, you might prefer to use it only at night.
2. Is this cream fungal acne safe?
No, it is not considered strictly fungal acne (FA) safe because it contains Sunflower Seed Oil and Beeswax. If you are prone to FA, we recommend patch testing carefully or choosing an alternative FA-safe moisturiser.
3. How is this different from the COSRX Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream?
The Ceramide Cream is focused on barrier repair using lipids (ceramides) and is thicker with a matte-balm finish, making it ideal for dry, damaged, or very sensitive skin. The Snail Cream is focused on hydration and repair using snail mucin, has a lighter gel-cream texture, and is generally suitable for a wider range of skin types, including oily and acne-prone.
