Understanding what changed
Different packaging? Here is how to read the evidence.
Genuine skincare can have a new box, a renewed label or a presentation made for a different market. Start with the exact product and size. Each comparison below explains the visible difference and the evidence available for it.
Packaging renewal
A brand updates its box, bottle or product name. We say “same formula” only where the cited material supports that specific update.
Regional presentation
Labels can carry different languages, distributors or responsible-person details. A regional difference does not establish which pack is newer.
A difference under review
Some photos establish what differs while the cause remains unanswered. We make that status clear and keep the evidence available.
Use these examples to understand packaging. To review a particular purchase, combine its photos, batch, condition and sourcing information. Appearance alone cannot prove that an individual item is genuine or counterfeit.

Our photographs show paler and darker boxes for Anua 7 Rice Ceramide Hydrating Barrier Serum, with different batches and expiry dates. Anua has not confirmed the cause of the colour difference in the batches we queried. The box fronts, bases and printed details are shown below.

Anua Peach 77 Niacin Enriched Cream 50 ml Packaging Renewal: 77% vs 77+
The earlier jar and gradient box say 77%; the renewed jar and solid pink box say 77+. Adilsons photographed both pairs side by side. The design difference is documented; the 77+ wording alone does not establish a higher peach concentration or a formula upgrade.
What the evidence covers: Adilsons front and rear photographs, Anua's original-to-renewed visual and retailer examples. Anua's graphic has inconsistent wording about formulation, so we make no formula-equivalence claim for these photographed batches.

Beauty of Joseon now presents Relief Sun as Rice + Niacinamide. The earlier Rice + Probiotics name can still appear on packaging. Its own FAQ says the formula, ingredients and size did not change with this labeling update.

Brand renewal announcement
Dr. Reju-All PDRN Cream Packaging Renewal: Bronze and White Tubes
Dr. Reju-All’s published packaging renewal announcement shows the earlier bronze tube and the renewed white tube. The brand states that the formula remains unchanged for that renewal. The Korean notice also shows a change from a 20 ml presentation to 30 ml, so check the size as well as the colour.
Evidence: published brand announcement and archived Korean notice; no direct email reply.
Regional versions and sizes can differ. The Korean notice does not establish that every international size changed at the same time. Check your product name, volume, label and expiry date. If the item does not match your order, contact us.
The renewal evidence comes from published brand material. We have not received a direct clarification email.

What the evidence covers: Heimish Korea's product imagery and Adilsons' newly received stock. These pictures do not establish a worldwide changeover date or whether the formula changed.

Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum 30 ml: US and EU/UK Packaging Variations
We photographed two presentations of this serum. One carton names APR US INC; the other names APR Co., Ltd. and prints EU and UK responsible-person details. Read those printed details rather than treating an outer seal colour as a rule for every market.
What the evidence covers: Adilsons cartons and bottle labels. Both reached Mauritius; these printed distributor details do not identify the company from which Adilsons bought a specific unit or establish which version came first.

Medicube PDRN Pink Vita Coating Mask 22 g: Two Packaging Designs Explained
Our stock includes a pink pouch with a dropper illustration and a pale pouch with raised PDRN lettering. Both photographed backs say “Distributed by APR US INC.” The different fronts in this pair are therefore not explained by one being US-labelled and the other EU/UK-labelled.

The blue outer box is documented in earlier buyer photographs; the white box is the one photographed at Adilsons. Both appearances have been shown for the same named 100 g mask. The blue tube can appear inside a white box.
What the evidence covers: Adilsons stock and dated retailer buyer photographs. We have not treated the photographs as a Medicube announcement of a worldwide renewal or a manufacturing date.

Our comparison shows the previous rose gold outer box and the white box with a pink front panel newly received at Adilsons. MISSHA's parent company announced a renewal of the Glow Prep line that names the 50 ml balm.
What the evidence covers: Adilsons' box photographs and Able C&C's dated renewal announcement. The separate before/after jar imagery on retailer listings does not date the shiny-lidded jar in our new box.

Numbuzin No. 3 Serum Packaging Differences: Black Grid and Lighter Bottle
Our April 2025 comparison shows two Numbuzin No. 3 Serum presentations: a black-grid label and a lighter, minimal design. Our research also recorded the lighter design on Olive Young and regional brand social posts. We have not received a brand reply confirming the reason for the change or formula equivalence.
Enquiry status: no reply received from Numbuzin as of 14 September 2026.
Our investigation recorded the lighter design on Olive Young and in regional Numbuzin social posts. These references help explain the packaging question; they do not authenticate an individual bottle or prove its contents are identical.
We emailed Numbuzin for clarification and have not received a reply. If your bottle differs, send its size, label and batch photos so we can review the specific item.

Brand container-change notice
SKIN1004 30 ml Ampoule Packaging Change: Previous and Updated Bottle Bases
SKIN1004 announced a container update affecting its 30 ml ampoules with dropper caps. The new base has a more defined circular mark. The notice states that the formulation remains the same.
Evidence: brand notice and container comparison. Adilsons works directly with SKIN1004.
The notice covers the 30 ml Centella, Tone Brightening, Tea-Trica, Poremizing and Probio-Cica ampoules, including those supplied in Ampoule Kits and Travel Kits. It describes a container-manufacturing change; it does not cover every size in the range.
Previous and updated containers may coexist during a transition. Check the date on your own bottle; a historical example photo does not show today’s available stock.

Beyond packaging design
Labels, manufacturing origin & certification
These are separate questions. Check the exact label, product and document rather than applying one answer to a whole brand.
The Ordinary: Korean Stickers and Product Authenticity
A Korean-language sticker may provide local-market labelling, such as translated information or importer details. Its presence does not by itself mean fake, and it does not prove authenticity or authorised distribution.
Key distinction: local-market labelling explains information on the pack; it does not authenticate the unit.
Read the product name, ingredients and importer information together with the original packaging. Labels can vary by destination market. An unfamiliar sticker, a missing sticker or a neat-looking sticker is not a verdict.
Keep the packaging and send us clear photos of the sticker, bottle, box and batch code. We can review the details of your purchase and identify what further information is needed. A normal barcode or QR link is not a replacement for that review.

THE FACE SHOP: “Made in China” Labels on Korean Beauty Products
Brand nationality and manufacturing location are different things. “Made in China” alone does not establish counterfeiting. The question is whether that origin matches the exact product and its documented supply.
Key distinction: manufacturing origin, brand ownership and the country of import are separate facts.
Our December 2025 article recorded the decision to discontinue the fmgt Lip Scrub EX after questions about its manufacturing label. That stocking decision does not itself establish that the product was counterfeit.
The listing is supporting context, not proof of a particular factory or an individual unit’s authenticity. We are not inferring a factory location, pharmaceutical standard or regulatory approval from a brand’s ownership history.

BB LAB Collagen: Which Products Does the Halal Certificate Cover?
The certificate copy below names four products only. Match the exact product to the document; a certificate for one variant should not be treated as certification of the entire BB LAB range.
Evidence: certificate copy covering four named products; printed validity through 26 January 2027.
The displayed Korea Muslim Federation certificate KMFHC24-027 names manufacturer Cosfarm Co., Ltd. It is dated 27 January 2024 and prints a validity end date of 26 January 2027.

This is a document copy, not a live certificate-status check. Match the exact variant and manufacturer, and confirm current status with the issuer where needed. A similarly named product, another flavour or a later reformulation should not be assumed to be covered.
Halal, vegan and vegetarian are different questions. Fish-derived collagen is not vegan or vegetarian. Check the exact pack’s ingredients and allergen information. Halal certification does not establish medical benefits or guarantee an absence of side effects.

Product authenticity verification: codes, labels & seals
Does a matching barcode prove authenticity?
No. A barcode lookup can identify the number’s registered owner or product information, but a counterfeiter can copy that number. A GS1 prefix identifies the organisation that allocated the number; it does not establish where the item was manufactured.
What if the QR code opens the brand website?
A standard QR link can be copied. Follow the brand’s instructions for the exact security label on your pack. A dedicated verification system may check additional security features; simply reaching a website is not the same check.
Does a failed scan mean fake?
Not automatically. The wrong app, a damaged label or a technical problem may prevent a scan. Keep the error message and packaging, and ask us to review it. Do not treat an unexplained failure or warning as a successful verification.
Should every product have a seal or hologram?
There is no single seal used across every brand, market and product. Compare the exact version. If a seal appears broken, the item leaks or you suspect tampering, leave it unused and contact us with photos.

Dates, storage & freshness
Is this a manufacturing date or an expiry date?
Read the words next to the date. MFG or MFD indicates manufacture; EXP indicates expiry. Korean 제조 indicates manufacture, while 사용기한 refers to the use-by period. A number alone can be ambiguous. Send us a clear photo of the full marking rather than guessing.
Can a batch-checking website tell me if it is safe?
Batch databases may estimate a production date and may not cover your brand or current code format. They do not authenticate the product, inspect its condition or establish a reliable expiry date for every item. Follow the pack and manufacturer’s product-specific instructions.
Does older packaging mean expired stock?
No. Packaging design and expiry are separate checks. Read the date on the item itself and any after-opening instructions. Being within the printed date also does not rule out damage, contamination or poor storage.
My vitamin C serum changed colour. What should I do?
Some formulas change colour as they oxidise, but the expected colour and storage instructions depend on the product. A marked or unexpected change in colour, smell or texture needs checking. Pause use and send us the product name, batch, opening date and photos. Refrigerate only where the manufacturer recommends it.

Texture, results & skin reactions
It feels sticky or absorbs differently. Is that a sign of a fake?
Texture alone cannot establish authenticity. The formula, amount applied, layers underneath and surrounding conditions can affect how a product feels. Compare the same version, and report an unexpected change rather than testing authenticity by applying more.
My friend got different results. Does that mean mine is fake?
People can respond differently to the same product. A positive review, a lack of visible results or a different experience cannot authenticate a bottle. Product suitability and product origin need separate checks.
It burns, stings or causes a rash. What now?
Stop using a cosmetic that causes an unexpected reaction and contact us with the product and batch details. Do not keep applying it to test whether it is genuine. Seek medical advice for a significant, persistent or worsening reaction; get urgent help for breathing difficulty or swelling of the lips or tongue.
Does a reaction prove it is counterfeit—or just sensitivity?
Neither conclusion follows from the reaction alone. Genuine products can irritate, and damage or a product defect may also need investigation. We will not use other people’s positive reviews to dismiss your concern. Keep the item and packaging for the review.

Why might your price differ from another retailer’s?
Compare the exact size, version and total cost, including delivery. Sourcing costs, freight, exchange rates and retail margins can differ. A low price does not prove counterfeiting, and a high price does not guarantee authenticity. Ask about the item’s sourcing and documentation.
How do I identify licensed anime products at Adilsons Otaku?

What do shop reviews and a physical store establish?
They help you assess service and find a business you can contact. They do not authenticate a particular product. You can visit us at Shop 12, Citadelle Mall, Port Louis; check our contact page and current visiting information before travelling.
What if an older article sounds more certain?
Our earlier articles record the questions and evidence available at the time. This page gives our current explanation, including the limits of those checks and unanswered enquiries. Where wording differs, use this page for our current position and ask us about your specific purchase.
