Laneige Lip sleeping Mask (Berry) 3g
LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask (Berry, 3g mini) is a wax-and-butter overnight lip balm built on Shea Butter, Murumuru Seed Butter, and a berry-derived antioxidant fruit-extract blend, applied nightly in Mauritius as the very last PM step to counter chapping from AC air, sea salt, and sun. This exact 3g jar's declared ingredients differ from the larger 20g "EX" Berry jar's — no Coconut Oil, and a Sodium Hyaluronate/Beta-Glucan/Alcohol-based aqueous tail instead — so treat this as a related but not identical formula. It is not suitable for broken or wounded lip skin (e.g. an active cold sore) until healed.
At-a-Glance (Is this for you?)
Values You Can Trust: 100% Genuine* / Halal-Friendly* / Vegan-Friendly* / Cruelty-Free*
*See the Sourcing and Authenticity and Conscious and Permissible Formulation sections below for exactly what each of these was checked against.
| Brand | Product Type | Net Volume | Key Ingredients |
|---|---|---|---|
| LANEIGE | Overnight lip balm | 3g (mini) | Shea Butter, Murumuru Seed Butter, berry fruit-extract blend, Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan |
| Skin Types | Primary Concern | AM/PM | Routine Complexity | MFDS Class |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| All lip types | Chapped, dry, flaky lips | PM primary; thin layer OK by day | Straightforward | General Cosmetic |
Pros: single-step, no rinsing, mini size ideal for trialling or travel, no Coconut Oil in this SKU's declared list (unlike the sibling 20g EX jar), self-assessed vegan-friendly with no beeswax detected.
Caveats: contains added Fragrance/Parfum (undifferentiated, no individual EU allergens broken out); this 3g's declared formula is not confirmed identical to the 20g EX Berry jar, so treat brand-level "EX" claims (like the Moisture Wrap branding) with some caution for this exact size.
Low-Energy and Burnout Viability (For tough days)
- Bedside-compatible: yes.
- Requires rinsing: no.
- Requires precise dosage: no — a lentil-size amount.
- Applicable with unwashed hands: yes, in a pinch, though a clean fingertip or the included applicator is better for jar hygiene.
Minimum viable routine position: this can be the entire lip-care step on a low-energy night — apply directly to lips even if you skip your full face routine.
Quick Start (60-Second Essentials)
- When: PM, as the final step of your routine.
- How much: a lentil-size amount, enough to coat the lips.
- How: scoop with a clean fingertip or applicator, apply evenly, leave on overnight.
The one rule: Introduce this as the ONLY new product in your routine. Wait a full 14 days before adding anything else. This isolation window ensures you can identify whether any reaction is caused by this specific product.
PM Routine Guide (Evening sequence)
- Cleanse face (double-cleanse if wearing SPF/makeup).
- Complete your usual toner/serum/moisturizer steps.
- LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask (Berry) — always the very last step, applied to lips only.
Texture rule: apply skincare thinnest to thickest — this occlusive lip balm always goes last, after any facial moisturizer, so it isn't disturbed by later steps.
How to Use (Amounts, technique, and tips)
| Area | Amount |
|---|---|
| Lips only | Lentil-size, using a clean fingertip or applicator |
Technique: apply an even layer across the lips; avoid rubbing into the surrounding skin.
Required skin state: lips can be dry or slightly damp — either works.
If your lips are extremely chapped: apply a slightly thicker layer and gently wipe away softened flaking with a soft cloth in the morning, rather than picking at it.
If you want a daytime gloss: a very thin layer works as a daytime lip treatment, though this product is primarily formulated and marketed for overnight use.
Routine Encyclopedia (Where every product type fits)
This is an encyclopedia map of all product types. You do not use all of these daily. You select modules based on your skin state.
Global rules: viscosity ladder thinnest to thickest, water-phase before oil-phase, treatments before seals. Watery layers wait 10-20s, serums 30-60s, sunscreen 10-15 minutes before sun/makeup. If the routine pills, stings, or feels heavy, reduce layers rather than adding more.
AM Maximum Stack: (1) Gentle cleanse (optional), (2) pH-prep toner, (3) hydrating toner layers, (4) essence, (5) mist, (6) soothing serum, (7) one antioxidant, (8) one pigment-support active if tolerated, (9) hydration serum, (10) one oil-control active, (11) peptides, (12) eye cream, (13) moisturizer, (14) optional occlusive seal, (15) sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ (non-negotiable), (16) Lip SPF — reapply like sunscreen. "In AM, prioritize comfort and SPF adherence over stacking."
PM Maximum Stack: (1) micellar pre-cleanse, (2) oil cleanser if wearing SPF/makeup, (3) water cleanser, (4) pH-prep toner, (5) hydrating toner layers, (6) essence, (7) soothing serum, (8) anchor active, (9) targeted serum, (10) moisturizer, (11) sleeping mask, (12) occlusive seal, (13) spot treatment, (14) Lip Sleeping Mask — this product's position, always last. "Do not layer retinoids with AHA/BHA in the same night; keep 'one lane' per night."
One-lane rule: retinoid OR exfoliation OR strong Vitamin C OR acne-control active per routine; this lip step is compatible with any of those lanes since it only treats the lips, which sit outside the active-lane conflict zone.
Viscosity and Layering Science (Where it fits)
Tier: balm — the thickest, most occlusive tier on the ladder. Always applied last, and only to the lips.
Phase compatibility: wax/oil-phase dominant with a small aqueous tail (Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan). Because it's occlusive, nothing else should be layered on top of it.
What to Expect (Results timeline)
| Phase | Timeframe | What You Will Notice |
|---|---|---|
| Immediate | 0-24h | Lips feel coated and comforted; a glossy finish appears right away. |
| After 1 night | Next morning | Noticeably softer lips; surface flaking is softened and easier to remove. |
| Week 2-4 | With nightly use | Fewer chapping episodes and less reliance on daytime reapplication. |
| Maintenance | Ongoing | Continued nightly use maintains results — this is a maintenance product, not a one-time fix. |
Who Should Use This (Clinical triage)
| Tier | Condition |
|---|---|
| PROCEED IF | Chapped, dry, or flaky lips, no open wounds. |
| PAUSE IF | Currently reacting to a new lip product or facial fragrance. |
| STOP/CONSULT IF | Active cold sore, a cut, or a wound on the lip — wait for it to heal first. |
Skin Type Compatibility
This product is formulated for lips, not facial skin, and is broadly suitable for all lip types.
| Situation | Compatibility | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Chronically dry/chapped lips | Excellent | Primary use case. |
| Matte-lipstick wearers | Good | Use nightly to counter the drying effect of matte formulas. |
| Perioral dermatitis-prone skin around the mouth | Caution | Apply carefully to avoid spreading the rich balm onto surrounding skin. |
| Known fragrance/berry-extract allergy | Patch test first | Contains Fragrance/Parfum and multiple named berry/fruit extracts. |
Targeted Concerns (What it treats)
- Dry, chapped, flaky lips: the wax-and-butter base occludes moisture loss while Sodium Hyaluronate and Beta-Glucan supply humectant hydration.
- Rough texture: the occlusive film softens dead surface skin overnight so it wipes away more easily rather than being picked at.
- Environmental exposure: the berry-derived fruit-extract blend provides some antioxidant support against daily environmental stress on the lips.
What this product cannot do: it cannot heal an active cold sore or wound, and it does not contain sun protection — it is a moisture and comfort product, not a medical or UV-protective one.
Best Paired With (Synergistic pairings)
- ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Cleanser 150ml — a gentle, low-pH cleanser so your PM routine starts right, before this lip step finishes it. Use PM.
- Beauty of Joseon Dynasty Cream 50ml — a rich facial moisturizer to pair with this lip balm for a complete overnight face-and-lips routine. Use PM.
- SOME BY MI V10 Hyal Lip Sun Protector Berry 7ml SPF15 — daytime lip UV protection, since this overnight balm has none. Use AM.
Alternatives: cleanser — Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser 100ml, VT Reedle Shot Cleanser 80ml, or Anua Heartleaf Succinic Cleansing Foam 150ml; moisturizer — Anua Birch 70 Moisture Boosting Cream 50ml or SKIN1004 Probio-Cica Enrich Cream 15ml.
Lip SPF: at the time of writing, SOME BY MI V10 Hyal Lip Sun Protector Berry is the only dedicated lip SPF we found currently in stock — we do not currently carry additional dedicated lip-SPF alternatives; this sub-category is under sourcing review.
Pilling pairs: none — this is the final, occlusive step of any routine, so nothing is meant to layer over it.
Wudu and Prayer Compatibility
Assessment: Fully Occlusive — this is a dense wax-and-butter balm designed to sit on the lips overnight without being washed away.
Wudu traditionally includes rinsing the mouth (madmada) and the lip area is part of the face that must be reached by water during ablution. A thick occlusive balm layer can resist that water contact.
Removal method: wipe lips with a damp cloth or rinse with water before wudu to remove the balm layer, since this is designed as an overnight (not all-day) product typically worn off by morning ablution time in most schedules.
Adilsons provides this assessment based on the product's physical properties. Rulings on wudu validity vary between scholars. Consult your own trusted Islamic authority.
Myth Replacement (Common misconceptions)
- MYTH: "Petroleum jelly does the exact same thing as a lip sleeping mask." REALITY: both are occlusive, but this product's declared INCI adds humectants (Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan) and antioxidant fruit extracts that plain petroleum jelly does not supply — it seals AND actively hydrates, rather than only sealing in what moisture is already there.
- MYTH: "Lip scrubs are the best way to remove chapped skin." REALITY: physical sugar/salt scrubs can cause micro-tears on the thin lip skin; softening dead skin overnight with an occlusive balm and gently wiping it away in the morning is gentler.
Climate Fit for Mauritius
| Season | Conditions | How to Adjust |
|---|---|---|
| Summer (Dec-Mar) | Sun, sea salt exposure | Pair daytime use with a dedicated lip SPF; use this balm nightly to repair daily exposure. |
| Winter (Jun-Sep) | Drier air | Nightly use is especially useful in this drier season. |
| AC-heavy days/nights | Dry indoor air | This balm's occlusive film is well-suited to counter AC-driven lip dryness overnight. |

*This INCI is taken from the live Adilsons product page's own declared ingredient text, cross-checked against an independent web listing for LANEIGE's non-"EX" "Lip Sleeping Mask Berry" — both agree on this profile, which differs from the sibling 20g "EX" Berry jar's declared list (that one includes Coconut Oil and juice-form fruit extracts with Ascorbic Acid, and omits Alcohol/Potassium Alginate/Beta-Glucan/Sodium Hyaluronate). See the open_questions in this product's research file for the unresolved formula-relationship note.
*Sodium Hyaluronate and Ascorbyl Glucoside sit below the estimated 1% line — likely present at a trace, sub-headline concentration.
Preservative system: Dehydroacetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA (chelator), BHT (antioxidant).
Allergens and Fragrance Disclosure
Fragrance status: Synthetic Fragrance (Parfum) present, undifferentiated in the declared list.
Scent: a sweet, fruity berry scent, consistent with the "Berry" flavor naming.
EU 26 allergen screen: none individually broken out from the "Fragrance" term in this SKU's declared INCI.
*Fragrance in the INCI may contain undisclosed allergens (e.g. Limonene, Linalool) not separately listed. Patch test advised for sensitive individuals.
Alcohol disclosure: "Alcohol" appears mid-list, consistent with a minor solvent role in this leave-on lip balm rather than a primary drying-alcohol concern.
Conscious and Permissible Formulation
Halal Status: Halal-Friendly*.
*Self-assessed by Adilsons based on available INCI data. No ethanol from fermentation beyond the minor solvent-position "Alcohol" listed, no porcine-derived ingredients, and no haram animal-derived ingredients detected in the declared ingredient list. This is NOT a formal Halal certification. Muslims with stricter requirements should consult their own scholars.
Vegan Status: Vegan-Friendly*.
*Self-assessed by Adilsons based on available INCI data. No animal-derived ingredients — including no Beeswax/Cera Alba — are present in this SKU's own declared ingredient list. This is NOT a formal vegan certification by The Vegan Society or equivalent body. (Note: an earlier version of this listing incorrectly stated this product contained beeswax; that claim did not match the ingredient list declared on the same listing and has been corrected here.)
Cruelty-Free: *Brand-stated policy. Not independently certified by Leaping Bunny, PETA, or equivalent third-party audit. *Brand states cruelty-free, but sells products in Mainland China where post-market animal testing may be required by law. Cross-border e-commerce sales may be exempt.
Microplastic-Free: No — contains synthetic film-forming/texture polymers (Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Polybutene, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene).
Evidence, Regulation and Claims
MFDS Classification: General Cosmetic. Lip balms are not a recognized MFDS "Functional Cosmetic" category (wrinkle-improvement, whitening, UV protection) — this product's purpose is moisturizing and cosmetic comfort.
Clinical evidence: Marketing-Only*. No SKU-specific clinical study (lab, sample size, dates) was independently found or re-verified for this 3g product. A named Dermapro clinical study exists for the sibling 20g "EX" formula, but given the ingredient differences documented above, it is not carried over as verified for this SKU.
*Evidence confidence: Marketing-Only for any moisture-percentage claim specific to this 3g product.
Product Identity and Provenance
| Field | Detail |
|---|---|
| English Name | LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask — Berry (mini) |
| Brand | LANEIGE (Amorepacific Corporation) |
| Country of Manufacture | South Korea |
| Net Volume | 3g |
Formula note: this 3g jar's title omits "EX," and its declared INCI matches what independent research found for LANEIGE's earlier, non-EX "Lip Sleeping Mask Berry" listing rather than the 20g EX reformulation — see the Complete Ingredient Transparency section above. This is treated as an open question rather than a confirmed fact pending direct label verification.
Sensory and Chemical Profile
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Texture | Thick, scoopable balm that melts on contact with lip warmth |
| Finish | Glossy, non-sticky film |
| pH | Not applicable — anhydrous-dominant balm |
Fungal Acne Safety: Not applicable. This is a lip-only balm; lips lack sebaceous glands and are not a Malassezia colonization site, so FA-feeding-ingredient screening (relevant for facial-skin products) does not meaningfully apply here.
Safety and Patch Test Protocol
Patch test: apply a small amount behind the ear or on the inner forearm, wait 24-48 hours; if clear, proceed to lip use.
Emergency stop signals: hives, swelling, blistering, persistent burning, or breathing difficulty — seek emergency care.
If irritation occurs: stop use immediately. If symptoms persist, consult a healthcare professional.
Troubleshooting Guide
| If You Experience | Likely Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Feels too thick/sticky | Over-application | Use a thinner, lentil-size amount |
| Small bumps around the lip line | Balm spreading onto surrounding skin | Apply strictly to the lips, avoid the perioral skin |
| No visible improvement | Inconsistent nightly use, dehydration, or lip-licking | Use nightly, drink water, avoid licking lips during the day |
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Applying too thick a layer, expecting faster results.
- Using it over broken or wounded lip skin.
- Spreading it onto the perioral skin rather than keeping it on the lips.
- Skipping daytime lip SPF and relying on this overnight balm alone for sun protection (it has none).
- Picking at softened flaking rather than gently wiping it away.
Usage Economics (How long it lasts)
Usage math: approximately 0.1-0.15g per nightly application from a 3g jar gives roughly 20-30 uses.
Lifespan: at nightly use, this mini jar lasts approximately 3-4 weeks — it is sized for trial or travel use rather than long-term daily use, where the 20g full-size format is more economical per use.
Reorder timing: if you like it, plan to reorder (or size up) about a week before this jar runs out.
Complete Your Routine (Exact routine + pairings)
This lip mask is the final step of a complete PM routine — not a substitute for the rest of your skincare.
- PM: cleanse → toner/serum → moisturizer → Lip Sleeping Mask (Berry), thin even layer on lips only.
- AM: your normal face routine → lip SPF for daytime sun protection.
If your lips are extremely chapped right now: apply a slightly thicker layer for a few nights, then step back down to a thin layer once healed.
If you wear matte lipstick daily: use this nightly to counter the drying effect matte formulas have on lip skin.
If you have an active cold sore or cut on the lip: pause use until fully healed.
After purchasing, you will receive our skincare education email series covering this product in depth.
The recommendations above are based on formulation synergy with this Lip Sleeping Mask, not on margin or stock levels. If a pairing does not exist in our catalog, we say so. If you already own a product that fills the same role, use what you have first.
Is This the Best Choice? (Mindful alternatives)
For a lighter, more everyday-wearable balm texture, MIXSOON Vegan Melting Lip Balm 4.1g Clear is a smoother, less thick option comfortable for both day and night use.
For a certified-vegan alternative with a kombucha-ferment angle, Dr.Ceuracle Vegan Kombucha Tea Lip Balm 3.7g is a good fit.
For a PETA-certified vegan balm, LAKA Soul Vegan Lip Balm Clear 3.9g is available.
For a glossy oil finish rather than a balm, A'pieu Honey&Milk Lip Oil 5g is an option, though stock on this one is currently very low.
Why Choose This Over the Alternative?
Choose *this 3g mini* over *a full-size 20g EX jar (e.g. Mint Choco)* if you want to trial the Lip Sleeping Mask concept, or need a travel-size format, without committing to a larger jar.
| Upgrade Axis | Better in the 20g EX jar | Trade-off | Who Benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Volume / longevity | Lasts 4-6+ months vs. this jar's 3-4 weeks | Larger commitment, and (for the Berry EX specifically) currently out of stock — Mint Choco 20g EX is in stock as a different flavor | Nightly long-term users |
| Formula | EX reformulation (per sibling research, adds Coconut Oil, juice-form fruit extracts) | Different flavor if Berry EX is unavailable | Those who specifically want the EX formula |
If you match: you are trying Lip Sleeping Mask for the first time → stay with this 3g mini. You already use it nightly and go through a jar quickly → size up to a 20g jar. You are unsure about the fragrance or fruit-extract blend → patch test this smaller size first.
The No-Buy Redundancy Check
This product's PRIMARY function is: overnight occlusive lip repair. You do NOT need this if you already own another rich overnight lip balm or mask you're happy with — finish that first.
Stacking assessment: No Benefit if you already run another dedicated overnight lip balm (same mechanism). Marginal Benefit if you currently only use a basic daytime lip balm with no overnight-specific formula.
Sourcing and Authenticity
This product is sourced through authorized Korean distributors — primarily Craver Co., Ltd (South Korea), alongside other verified distribution partners. Craver is a major Korean beauty distributor and the parent company of SKIN1004, handling authorized distribution for multiple K-beauty brands. All products are shipped directly to Mauritius via verified channels.

Quick verification tips: genuine LANEIGE jars carry crisp, embossed branding and a batch code on the jar base, checkable at CheckFresh.com; labeling should appear in both English and Korean with "Amorepacific Corporation, Seoul, Korea" as manufacturer. Note that mini-size jars sold outside an official bundle are generally a caution sign for other brands, but Adilsons carries several individually-sold LANEIGE 3g minis as an established recurring sub-line.
About LANEIGE
Parent Company: Amorepacific Corporation. Founded: 1994. Headquarters: Seoul, South Korea. Hero Product: the Lip Sleeping Mask line.
LANEIGE built its identity around "Water Science" hydration research since 1994, and the Lip Sleeping Mask — of which this is a mini format — is the single product most responsible for the brand's international breakout, particularly through viral social-media attention and wide Sephora/Target distribution abroad.
Genuine Community Experiences
Community reviews specific to this exact 3g Berry mini were not found in our research at the time of writing — this size and (per our ingredient research above) possibly-different formula may not carry the same review base as the well-reviewed 20g EX Berry jar.
- General Lip Sleeping Mask category sentiment reports noticeably softer lips by morning and a pleasant, not-overpowering fruity scent as common praise themes.
- Mini/travel formats are commonly appreciated as a lower-commitment way to trial the line before buying full-size.
We did not find complaint-specific feedback for this exact 3g SKU — this is a gap in what we found, not a claim that no complaints exist.
Packaging and Practical Details
| Field | Detail |
|---|---|
| Primary Packaging | Small plastic jar, screw-top lid |
| Hygiene | Use a clean fingertip or the included applicator if provided with this size |
| Travel-Friendly | Yes — 3g is well within carry-on liquid/gel limits |
Sustainability: the plastic jar (PP) is recyclable in many local programs — check with your local council.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I use this during the day?
- Yes, a thin layer works as a rich daytime lip treatment, though it's formulated and marketed primarily for overnight use and has no SPF.
- Is this better than plain petroleum jelly?
- Both occlude moisture loss, but this product also supplies humectants (Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan) and antioxidant fruit extracts that petroleum jelly alone does not.
- Is the 3g mini the same formula as the 20g full-size jar?
- Not confirmed as identical — our research found this 3g jar's declared ingredients differ from the 20g "EX" jar's (see Complete Ingredient Transparency above), so treat them as related but distinct formulas until confirmed otherwise.
- Does it contain beeswax, and is it vegan?
- No beeswax/Cera Alba appears in this SKU's own declared ingredient list, so we assess it as self-assessed vegan-friendly — correcting an earlier, inaccurate "Not Vegan" claim that appeared on this same listing previously.
- How long does one 3g jar last?
- Roughly 20-30 nightly uses, or about 3-4 weeks of daily use.
Glossary
- Occlusive

The Final Verdict
Best for: anyone wanting to trial LANEIGE's Lip Sleeping Mask concept in a low-commitment travel size, or dealing with dry, chapped lips who wants an overnight balm with real humectants, not just wax.
Key benefits: occlusive-plus-humectant approach, no beeswax (self-assessed vegan-friendly), mini format ideal for travel or first-time trial.
Keep in mind: contains added fragrance; this 3g's exact formula relationship to the larger 20g EX jar is not fully confirmed, so treat brand-wide "EX" marketing claims with some caution for this specific size; no SPF, so pair with a dedicated lip sunscreen by day.
