Lane strictness: One-lane rule — Retinoid OR Exfoliation OR Strong Vitamin C (LAA) OR Acne-control active per routine; barrier/hydration can always accompany. If unsure, default to the safest lane (barrier/hydration) and reduce layers.

If you are undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, or targeted therapy), skin can become significantly more reactive to actives generally. The strictest components here are the Niacinamide 20% Serum (retinol) and the Vitamin C24/PHA 15% serums (higher active concentrations, photosensitizing). Discuss any of the four treatment serums with your oncology team before use; the SOS Serum's soothing-only formula is the lowest-risk starting point if you want to continue some form of skincare during treatment, but confirm with your care team regardless.

Week 1: SOS Serum only, 3-4 nights, to confirm baseline tolerance of the routine.

Week 2: introduce ONE treatment serum — Azelaic Acid 12% or Niacinamide 20% are common starting picks — 2-3x that week, alternating with SOS Serum on other nights.

Week 3: if tolerated, introduce Vitamin C24 Serum on a separate night from the Week 2 pick, with daily sunscreen now mandatory.

Week 4+: introduce PHA 15% Serum last, since it's the most likely of the five to compound irritation if stacked too early — never on the same night as Vitamin C24 or the Niacinamide 20% Serum.

Foundation components (a compatible cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen) should be stabilized before Week 1 begins, not introduced alongside the serums.

Days 1-7: SOS Serum every PM, sunscreen every AM (using your own cleanser/moisturizer/SPF).

Days 8-14: alternate SOS Serum and Azelaic Acid 12% Serum every other PM.

Days 15-21: alternate SOS Serum and Niacinamide 20% Serum every other PM (retinol night — confirm daily sunscreen use).

Days 22-28: introduce Vitamin C24 Serum on 2-3 mornings this week (with sunscreen), keeping Azelaic Acid or Niacinamide in rotation on separate PM nights.

Days 29-30: rest/recovery with SOS Serum only, then reassess which serum(s) earned a place going forward before introducing PHA 15% Serum in month two.
